 CalFresh is California’s version of the federal SNAP (food stamps) program. It helps low-income individuals and families buy food each month using an EBT card, which works like a debit card at grocery stores and farmers markets.

✅ What Is Medi-Cal?

 Medi-Cal is California’s version of the federal Medicaid program. It offers free or low-cost health coverage to eligible low-income residents. 

👪 Who Qualifies for Medi-Cal?

 You may be eligible if you are:

  • A California resident
     
  • A U.S. citizen or have qualified immigration status
     
  • Part of a low-income household
     
  • A child, pregnant woman, parent, senior (65+), or disabled adult
     

Even single adults without children may qualify under the expansion rules.

 Section 8 is a federal housing assistance program that helps low-income individuals and families pay for rent. In California, it’s managed by local housing authorities (PHAs).

Qualified renters receive a Housing Choice Voucher that covers part of the rent for apartments, townhomes, or single-family homes
